FULL TIME EXEMPT POSITION Legislative Assistant DHHR/Office of the Cabinet Secretary/Legislative Affairs Counsel Salary:
$60,000 - $70,000/yr.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Legislative Affairs Counsel is seeking a Legislative Assistant.
This position will be responding to legislative inquiries sent to the Legislative Affairs Counsel's office while also performing a wide variety of routine administrative tasks.
One can expect to performing the following tasks:
Support the Legislative Affairs Counsel in their written work and meetings.
Monitor Legislative committee meetings and summarize.
Communicate verbally and in writing to answer incoming inquiries and provide information on behalf of the Legislative Affairs Counsel.
Maintain various databases and spreadsheet documents.
Track pending legislation and keep the Legislative Affairs Counsel Informed of developments.
Assist in scheduling appointments and setting up meetings.
Perform various other duties that may be assigned from time to time based on the needs of the Legislative Affairs Counsel.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Solid understanding of the legislative process and state government.
Detail oriented, organized and able to multitask while meeting several deadlines.
Able to work well under pressure.
Self motivated.
